On my PC I run Firefox and it was running perfectly fine last night. When I got up this morning my computer had been rebooted it was one of those Windows automatic updates that required a restart, which has been the case many times before this.

When I went to open up Firefox it wouldn't open so I re-booted the computer and tried again no success. I even went and reinstalled Firefox and it still won't open.

Logic tells me its the windows update but then nothing is logical when it comes to computer, Laughing! I went and copied my Firefox bookmarks just to be on the safe side.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks for any help.

I forgot to mention this. I am running Windows XP on this computer and my virus scan log I checked - which was done sometime before the windows update and it doesn't show any virus of any kind.

If it were me, i'd try rebooting again just in case. If that didn't fix it, uninstall Firefox completely. Then do a search and make sure you got both downloads uninstalled & deleted. Then through IE i would download Firefox again.
If it still doesn't work, I would try to start FF in safe mode (go to Start-->Run--> type in: "%PROGRAMFILES%\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode and see if it opens/works in safe mode.

Whether it does or doesn't, report back, we may have a better idea then of what the problem is once we see that.

And if anyone has better advice feel free to jump in!!

Re: Firefox Won't Open
Good morning GG! I was able to open it up in safe mode and I disabled the plug-ins for it. Since then it has so far been opening for me. Thank you so much for your help!

I am not sure what happened, except for the windows update that happened overnight, nothing was changed on the computer.

Have an awesome day!

The configuration file for that profile probably got corrupted. You can make a new profile by using the same shortcut Geekgirl mentioned but change the safe mode to --profilemanager. Then create a new profile and use that from now on. Then one by one begin re-adding the extensions you had before. If it happens again youll be able to tell which extension may be the culprit. Hope that helps!
