Last week cybercriminals phished some Facebook accounts, and now they are using those accounts they have access to in order to spam people. Unfortunately it's not only just your normal ole' "increase your size & performance" spam, some of it is pretty dangerous stuff... It sends you to sites that can attack your computer, install all kinds of adware on it, and do other nasties to your computer! (hope that's not what happened to my facebook!)
mygener.im, fbaction.net and fbstarter.com are some of the sites being used. DO NOT visit these sites from facebook, or anywhere!!! Make sure if you click on anything that appears to be a login screen for Facebook (or any site), that it is not actually a phishing site!!!
Facebook has been deleting accounts and resetting passwords on the phished accounts and will not disclose how many accounts were affected so as to not let the bad guys know what types security has been breached.
They do claim that it was a "relatively small amount"
If you suspect your account has fallen victim to this scam, please CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD!!
I agree what idiots. Do you think that is what happened to your account? I haven't gotten any messages like this but I'll keep a eye out for them.
Damn I signed in on that page you have up as an example the other day, but I think it was ok. I was using a crappy comp that my wife was using and it had her login info set already... maybe I should change my password just in case...
Damn I signed in on that page you have up as an example the other day,
what page? From her facebook that was hacked?
The one shown in CK's post above. I thought maybe that was what the phishing page was designed to look like specifically, but I haven't actually read the article yet so I dunno for sure...
tap tap tap.. is this thing on?
Somebody always has to try and ruin the fun. Thanks for the heads up
