In a move to-among other reasons- make itself more competitive with Twitter, Facebook recently acquired FriendFeed.
"Facebook and FriendFeed share a common vision of giving people tools to share and connect with their friends. We can't wait to join the team and bring many of the innovations we've developed at FriendFeed to Facebook's 250 million users around the world." --FriendFeed co-founder Bret Taylor
So what does this mean for you? Well Facebook has a new feature that's what! Whether or not it's exciting, I will leave up to you. Simply go to the Search box on the upper right hand corner of your Facebook account or click
here once you are logged in, type in a word. It will search your friends' OR "EVERYONE" ( statuses within the past 30 days as well as groups/pages and web results. {look to the left of the results you got, the last two options are Posts by Friends, Posts by Everyone}
"If people have chosen to make their content available to everyone, you also will be able to search for their status updates, links and notes, regardless of whether or not you are friends." --Akhil Wable wrote for official facebook blog found here.
I have to say that I do initially like it...it's interesting and potentially useful. Though at first I was a little upset about the privacy concerns, until i read the quote that i posted above. Let's hope that holds true!
So try it out... what do you think?
