Facebook Virus

So i just received what i'm pretty sure is a something to lead me to a virus/phishing scam. my computer is pretty tightly secure though *whew* but some of yours might not be.

I logged into facebook and checked my messages, a friend's account it seems is hijacked. I got this message: Hey! you're on the news! followed by a VERY strange URL --a whole string of numbers & letters then followed by blogspot.com. I, being stupid for a second, clicked on it, when it was taking more than a second i X'd the browser right away. Running a virus scan right now to be sure.

I just looked on this friend's profile right now and it seems it truly is taken over--on his wall there are posts with the same sort of URLs to click "Hey you must see this video right now!"

I posted something on his profile to alert his friends to contact him and not to click the links.

So, just a reminder to be on the watch for things like this.

And now cell phone's aren't excluded either from viruses, etc--especially phones like the Smartphone!

Your profile looked fine to me (I just looked). Nothing stood out as odd or like it was taken over by any chance

if you surf alot then you might want to protect your phone: Anti-Virus for Mobile Phones

I saw something like this a while ago too, I just ignored it though. I never open links no matter who they're from unless I've been told by the person that it's safe to do so (and I know that person pretty well). But thanks for the heads up, I'll be keeping my eye out.

I had two co-workers get this. One had her account phished and was spamming left and right. The other got a virus from her through an email link. Sucks. The phished account is an older lady. I had to go to her house to show her how to change her password and how to do a virus scan etc.
