Question for any iphone 4 people out there.
I am about to get my new Iphone 4 and this is my first iphone ever. I know the new iphone has that face talk with the front camera. I was wondering if you could use your iphone 4 to skype (or something similar) to a computer with a web cam connected to it so I could see the person sitting in front of the computer on my phone and they see me on the computer? I've never even really used skype to be honest. I'm a techie guy but just never have had a need really to do that kind of stuff. Anyone out there know how to go about doing this?
Thanks I'll give it a try and see if it works. I'll report back when I get a chance to try it.
The actual skype website as an iphone app, but it looks like as of right now it doesn't include the iphone's webcam in it's feature set.
There is another iPhone app though that does support the camera on the iphone 4 called iWebCamera.
Here's a description of the app:
Turn your iPhone into a real webcamera and use it to video chat with your family and friends.
With iWebcamera you can use your iPhone as webcamera in applications like Skype, Microsoft Live Messenger, Youtube and every other webcamera enabled applications on your computer!
Some Features
Limitations (Apple OS X):
iWebCamera costs $5 and requires an iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, or 4th generation iPod Touch running iOS 4.0 or later.

Cool thanks. Sucks skype doesn't support it since that's free. Ahh well 5 bucks isn't a ton of cash. But for an app seems kinda steep. I'll probably check it out though. I am going to be traveling next week again and wanted to play with using this so I can talk and see my kids while i'm away. I should have my iphone today!
EDIT: I did some reading on this iWebCamera app and it looks as if it only works if your on the same network as the computer your connecting too. Not sure if this will do what I want it to do remotely from the road. Man with apple adding in this stupid facetime stuff you'd think it would work with other apps like skype by now! is it only good for iphone to iphone calls right now?

Remember Hamachi? Wonder if there's a way to use it or a similar app to trick it into thinking you're on the same network.
Yea I actually thought about that. Ehh seems like a pain in the butt. I'll just wait for skype or something else to come around and work. I imagine it's a matter of time. I'll keep looking.
eu amo o facetalk acho que nao consigo mais viver sem ele
{Moderator Translation: I cannot live without facetalk}
thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Single & Not Looking
They have an app for that on the Skype homepage. I'm not sure if it includes the video talk, I've actually heard conflicting stories on whether it does or not. But the only way to find out is download it.
