Looks like Red Bull REALLY does give you wings...so you can flyyyy! Seems that very small traces of cocaine have been found in the oh-so popular mixer drink in Germany, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Now those places, and others like Dubai, are trying to decide whether or not to ban the drink. It seems to stem from the use of coca leaf extract and now health labs are being asked to analyze the ingredients. It's upset quite a few people and some retailers are being asked not to sell Red Bull.
Fritz Soergel, the head of the Institute for Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Research in Nuremberg, Bavaria says-
"There is no scientific basis for this ban on Red Bull Cola because the levels of cocaine found are so small."
Same thing happened with Coca-Cola which hasn't used coca leaf extract as an ingredient since the early 1900's.
More on the story here and here.
Because I guess it does make a difference, no wonder so many people are hooked on it
You do know there is a difference in the energy drink and the cola? I've never seen the cola here in the south, though I'm not crazy about the taste of Red Bull anyway...
... well it states that the cola's are also sold in the US...curious if anyone has tried that? i mean, i've had the regular Red Bull (mixed never alone ew) don't know if i'd try the cola out. well maybe now that i know what's in it...uhhh...i mean no, wouldn't try it ESPECIALLY now that i know whats in it.
Just say no kiddies! *lol*
Save money -- take two No-Doz tabs, and about a dozen spoonsful of sugar.
The only drink worse-tasting than ice cold Red Bull, is room temperature Red Bull.
Whoa! No wonder you get a little bonkers when you had too many.

Nice - shame on them for using it. I mean really if its so small then why add it at all. I see law-suits
