Well according to computerworld yes some iPhone apps are indeed spyware that are gathering up your data.
Once an iPhone application is pinchmedia enabled, on every execution of the application the following information is stored in a local SQLlite database:
Your data is continually tracked ... they will record every use of the application for the life of that application on your phone. When finally you do have a connection, this information is sent automatically. ... At no point are you told what the pinchmedia enabled application is doing, at no time are you given an option to "opt-out".
OH yeah very nice but something to watch out for especially out jailbreak friends - it would suck to void that warranty if they know you jailbroke your phone. Big brother is watching.
So what any comments from our iPhone users? Opinions? Worried?
no I didn't see a list. I agree though ehhh I mean most websites you visit gather some info on you (your cookies) not to spy but to help them more with what ppl are looking for and for marketing purposes.
Saurik just released an app in Cydia that turns off all, some or one of the apps that collect this data. It was a collaborative effort between him and the app makers themselves. they provided him with some technical information that allowed him to create a global opt out app. Just slide a button from on to off and it stops collecting the data. Jailbreak FTW!

I'm not worried. Eff 'em! SO if the app is what collects the info and we assume it goes to their server, there is nothing that tells us they are giving the info to Apple. And since we know Apple has pissed a lot of developers we can only hope that the people collecting said info have no interest in giving it to Apple. But again even if they do eff 'em. If my phone dies and they won't cover it under warranty it'll just be an excuse to move to Android.
Do you know of a list of said apps? I don't have Camera Zoom.
