There's 2 decent comic/sci-fi/collectible conventions in Orlando this time of year. I used to go annually but I haven't made it for a couple years now.
Megacon was usually the better of the two, it was just last weekend. FX changed their dates and now they are coming up next month... good for an afternoon of some crazy sights and shenanigans. The celeb list can range from Mr. Spock himself to a budding comic book artist to last month's Playboy centerfold. I never went for the celebs, but usually to blow some money and get out of town for a day.
There is also Supercon which is a sci-fi/anime conventsion that is coming up in south Florida. We had Megacon here last month in Miami (my kids go).
Florida Supercon June 5-7, 2009 Miami, Fl.
I dont go - my kids won't let me, see 2 of mine like to cosplay and well mom laughing isn't too cool. I guess the neighbors mom is cooler here she cosplays too (FYI = Cosplay is dressup)
We need require pictures!! pretty please .. I love to see how awesome some of the costumes are. I have not done the dress up thing. Well, except for my trips to Rocky Horror ages ago. Even then I was not a "character"

Nooooooooooooo you dressed up and did he Rocky Horror thing - me too. Oh yeah I had the toast, water bottles, newpaper, TP, rice all of that. OMG good days and I would DIE if any of my old friends produced pics - DIE. I did dress up for that - total slutty outfit and all.
Those costume contests are worth watching. I slammed a couple beers in the hotel lobby and went to the contest a little buzzy. Had a blast watching these people look silly. But the time and effort some put into the costumes is simply amazing.
tap tap tap.. is this thing on?
I have family that lives in Vegas and have some amazing pictures of the Star trek convention last year. I might have share some of the really awesome costumes they were wearing
