How disgusting and scary is this? A cat serial killer? Oooh I hope the people catch whoever it is and not the authorities. This is one SICK person!

Police are investigating a string of disappearances and mutilation of cats in South Florida. So far, to no avail.

This is so horrible! A person who takes to killing usually starts on small prey....so it may only be a matter of time until the killer moves on to bigger game.
And from the ashes she rises.....

That is just sick and I agree with Phoenix that its only a matter of time that they move up to larger pray like ppl. I hope they find the SOB that is doing this. Broward County is the county below me, 1/2 hour to 45 min away. I'm kinda surprised I didn't hear this on my news but I'm kinda glad I didn't as I'm sure it would have sent my kids into a fit of rage. We are huge cat lovers here but our babies are inside cats only. If that one lady had one cat hand one cat killed, and one slashed why didn't she move her cats indoors for their protection - I don't get that part. If I lived in that area and I had outdoor cats they would be moved indoors or relocated to a safe area. I love my kitty's to much to risk them. I hope when they do catch this SOB they throw the books at him and even then it wont be enough, Micheal Vicks is a case to show that the laws are to loose when it comes to animals (he's already out of jail).

I think she said it was a stray cat that used to just hang around the neighborhood.

If it was a stray....and she took care of it in anyway she should have took it in where it would safe....or at least that what my tree-hugging @$$ would have done.

I agree you can get live animal traps and safely catch them and then take them to a animal shelter (hopefully a no kill one). The live traps are easy to use and I know that here in South Florida you can get them for use from animal care and control. We use then all the time at our office for raccoons (which we release way out in the woods). I would love to sit as a jury on one of these trials - I would toss the book at them and more - lots more.

Yeah I don't understand why she didn't keep her cats inside after the first disappearance or murder. They say that it's healthier in general for cats to stay indoors anyway. They are more prone to catching diseases when they venture outdoors. I'm not saying that it's her fault that this is a sick b@st@rd out there doing this.....but she should most definetely take some better precautions. And Mike Vick is horrible....it's funny that you mention him, because I saw a pic of one of the dogs mutilated face that he had fighting. I'm such an animal lover and hearing these sort of things drives me crazy.

Re: Cat Serial Killer in South Florida

Here is another thing that scares me - like I said I live 1/2 north of this. This is the story that is all over my news:

35 cats need new homes

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL -- Janet Scott's house is dark, because this many cats tend to knock over a lot of lights.

But there they are, forty-five some odd cats and kittens. They all live under one roof.

"I truly, truly love animals, and most especially cats, obviously," says the cats' owner.

Janet isn't crazy at least she doesn't come off that way.

No all these cats came from one, a stray who Janet said she didn't know was pregnant.

Those kittens begot kittens and well, four years later, the math gets a little fuzzy.

I like cats, too, although I'm allergic to most. My question is: Why does this person have 35 in her home?! There must be a shelter within driving distance. I keep reading about "cat ladies" who live in squalor and filth. I hope she doesn't have any children who have to live in conditions like that... Sad

She was I guess a cat horder - she was older and lived alone with all the cats. She had 45 cats but only has to get rid of 35, guess you can keep up to 10 per house. I can only imagine that litter box - no thanks. They did say her house was clean.
