Bernie Madoff was sentenced today to 150 yrs in prison. Doubt if he'll ever see daylight again. I think some people think this was a bit harsh, I certainly don't. I feel bad about the fact that he's old and thats how he gets to spend his last days, however, he burnt a lot of people and now he must pay the price.

I don't feel bad that he will spend the rest of his days in jail, but I do think the sentence is mostly another example of the justice system making a mockery of itself. Why send an old guy to jail for 150 years? Is it to make an example out of him? Ya know, since this sort of thing happens all the time..., Are we afraid that for some reason this guy will live to 200 years old, and just in case he does, he still will be incarcerated for his bday? Oh I know, now let's sentence a rapist or murderer to only 10 or 20. It's silly. And sure he screwed a lot of people, but I also have a hard time feeling bad when the rich steal from the rich. Maybe that's just because I'm so dang poor these days...
I also think he was lucky in a way, because Bernie's "sacrificial" sentence kinda lets everyone else involved off the hook. I saw that they were thinking of going after his kids and/or wife. There's no way he pulled off such a huge scam on his own. Also, the SEC should have noticed something was screwy years ago, but they weren't doing their jobs I guess.

Yeah no sympathy here for him.. There are alot of very old ppl (and young ones) who worked a life time to save their money for one day when they retire who have lost everything. His wife still has what 2.5 million along with other things, that is still a crime. I dunno just another reminder that you need to spread your capital and not put it in one basket.
