Well studies show that you can be one and that 1 out of 10 are.
SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) -
Nearly one in 10 US children who play videogames may be growing addicted to the pastime, according to US research released Monday.
A study released by the National Institute on Media and the Family at Iowa State University drew comparisons to compulsive gambling, concluding some children lie, borrow money from friends, or dodge work to play videogames.
"The present study was designed to demonstrate whether pathological gaming is an issue that merits further attention," Institute director and assistant professor of psychology Douglas Gentile wrote in the report.
"With almost one out of 10 youth gamers demonstrating real-world problems because of their gaming, we can conclude that it does."
So after reading the article what do you think? See I think there are to many other things to look at besides the childs gaming habbits. I think you need to look at the whole picture. What is the family life like? Also is this just limited to games - what about those who spend to much time online period. Be it that they game, look at porn, surf the web period or dare I mention be a geek site addict. I just think you cant judge a book by one chapter but you need to look at the WHOLE book , if you know what I mean. But then again this is spoken by a geek addict
Ok fess up what are you addicted to?

Well how many of us are at work surfing the net now *raises hand*
FYI: Monday is the largest internet surfing traffic day....why because ppl are back to work. I didn't make that up that is true.

I remember dodging work when Halo 3 came out in sept 07, I think thats the only time I did it though.
I've been a diehard gamer since I was 5, but I'm not an addict unless it starts having a negative effect on my life, like whenever I have a girlfriend.
Others would say I'm an addict. I just say that I'm replacing my TV time games.
I'm about to sign back up to WoW soon and check out the new stuff. Hope no one want's to see/talk to me for a few months on end ...
