Animated pictures (gif or png) on Facebook

Is there a way to have animated pictures on Facebook?

Whenever I try to upload an animated gif Facebook only shows it as a still picture. Like only one of the frames in the animated image. I remember back on Myspace animated pictures worked fine.

It has to do with using the FBML (Facebook Markup Language) I think. From what I can gather they can only be done in Facebook apps and in Facebook fan pages and then shared. Here's a Facebook app that lets you share a bunch of animated gifs but you can't add your own the last I checked. Add animated gif to facebook profile

I don't think there's any way to do that. I've done several steps online but none of them worked including the FBML thing. Oh but when you come up with something let us know, that'll be very helpful.
