I dunno I read this and went hummmm. This kid is the same age group as my younger kids. I can't image them doing this. I would so kill them! Atleast he was safe:
JETERSVILLE, Va. — A 13-year-old Virginia boy apparently loaded his family's pickup truck with food, clothes and his dog, hitched up a trailer with two horses in tow and drove nearly 1,300 miles to Texas, police said. The teen's parents found him safe Friday.
Police are unsure why the boy ran away Wednesday morning from his Jetersville-area home. He apparently was well-prepared, even bringing extra propane tanks along.
Wyatt E. McLaughlin was found about 2 p.m. Friday on a rodeo grounds near Weatherford, where he had performed several times before. His parents looked for him there on a hunch, said Sgt. Tom Cunningham, a Virginia State Police spokesman.
I did laugh that he took the dog and two horses...gotta love that. Not only did he steal the truck but took a trailer and went 1300 miles. Bet he was in some serious trouble!
Actually, when I first saw it on Comcast news there was a typo: they had 13,000 miles!
Oh well hummm doesn't surprise me that comcast can't get it straight (I'm not a huge comcast fan). 1,300 or 13,000 still way to far for a 13 yr old.
In fact, I just Googled it, and their still showing 13,000. Weird.
talk about being in control of the situation. he knew he had to get to school someway, somehow. little genius. *lol*
ahhh, parents, put your car keys in a safe place! these kids are getting bolder and bolder.
Wow he was only 6??? And he said he learned how to drive by playing Grand Theft Auto? That coupled with the fact that his mother was sleeping while he did this makes for some very irresponsible parenting on her behalf
Single & Not Looking
Now that is one determined kid. I can't understand how he was able to get that far without getting stopped once by the cops, must be a good driver. I did have a little chuckle at the story to be honest,
but in saying that if it was son o' mine, I wouldn't be laughing.
