Well 40 years ago Cher gave birth to a GIRL and they (Sonny and Cher) nameded her Chastity Bono well she will now be going as "Chaz"
"Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity," spokesman Howard Bragman said in a statement using only male pronouns.
"He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by his loved ones," said Bragman, declining to answer any questions.
Bono became a vocal advocate of gay and transgendered rights after going public with her sexuality.
There was no immediate comment from Cher, who initially cringed at her daughter's lesbianism before making peace with Chastity. Her father, Sonny Bono, died in 1998.
So how would you feel if you had a child or a loved one tell you that they were going to become transgender? Do you think that because Chastity's parents were famous that its fair that she is under the birght lights or that the media is out of control on such a personal matter?
Note: Please remember that we're adults here and lets not go into any gay bashing, opinions are fine but bashing is not - thanks
She use to be really pretty...
Honestly, I think it's great she's not denying herself this. I think people that are in the spot light so much would be even more afraid to express what they want because they are judged and critized so much more than the regular person. So kudos to her for having the guts to announce this . If it were my child, I probably would have a difficult time accepting this at first, and then eventually, if that's what my child's heart wants, I'd accept it and love them. It would take time to get used to it, of course.
I dont think it's a matter of being fair or not, she is considered a celebrity so yeah the media is gonna be all over this, thats just the way it is.
How would I feel if it was my child? Hmmm, well I would still love him and support him, I may not be happy about it, just because these things tend to make ones life somewhat difficult and people are mean, I would hate to see him being ridiculed or picked on, that would just be heartbreaking for me.

I agree! I would hate to see a child of mine being picked on like that...
I don't have any children but if a buddy or family member of mine said they wanted to undergo this change, I'd be behind them 100%.
Good for him.
Well I think she did what any good parent would do she will continue to love her child regardless. I can't imagine this is easy and being so public cant make is easier.
Out of my mind
There is all sorts of ugly going on in this thread
