So if you have a XBOX 360XBOX 360 and you have now a "E74" error your not alone. It seems that ever since XBOXXBOX's NXE update that the percentage of customers getting that error is on the rise. If you get it your looking at around $100. in repairs. Here are some good reads on the subject:

Is "E74" the XBOX 360XBOX 360's new Red Ring of Death?

After declaring the XBOX 360XBOX 360's infamous "Red Ring of Death" hardware failure fixed, Microsoft could be in for a whole new headache.

Video games blog Joystiq.com has been researching an XBOXXBOX hardware error that, it claims, appears to have been sharply increasing in prevalence since the so-called New XBOXXBOX Experience upgrade -- which overhauled the console's user interface -- debuted in November 2008. The error, which manifests itself as a black screen with the code "E74," is thought to be caused by failing video hardware. Most importantly, it isn't covered by the extended warranty Microsoft introduced after the last round of failures, and afflicted gamers must pay over $100 for a repair.

Joystiq survey: XBOX 360XBOX 360 E74 errors on the rise since NXE [update]

We reached out to Microsoft, asking what causes the E74 error, if it's been on an uptick, and why it's not covered when RROD is. Here's the official statement:

"E74 is a general hardware error on XBOX 360XBOX 360 indicated by a single red flashing light in the XBOXXBOX Ring of Light and an error message visible on the television. This error is unrelated to the three flashing red lights error and there is not a single root cause. We encourage anyone who receives this error to contact XBOXXBOX Customer support through www.XBOXXBOX.com/support or 1-800-4-MY-XBOXXBOX. The majority of customers who own XBOX 360XBOX 360 consoles continue to have a terrific experience from their first day, and continue to, day in and day out."

Right, so, Microsoft is not really answering anything.
