Another website gets bit! If you're a Formspring user who thought you were anonymous when asking people questions you might wanna think again.
According to a blog post last night on Formspring they were hacked:
We learned this morning that we had a security breach where some user passwords may have been accessed. In response to this, we have disabled all users passwords.
Out of their estimated 28 million users, approximately 420,000(!) users were potentially affected. All 28 million received email alerts telling them to change their passwords a.s.a.f.p.
A lot of the big social sites lately have been getting hacked; LinkedIn, LastFM, eHarmoney and now Formspring. Maybe it's time to start hanging out on the smaller social sites / forums where the admins take more of a loving care of their website rather than the corporate sites where the administration get paid hourly or salary and really couldn't care less about it's users privacy?
What's your opinion, do you think the big social sites are being careful enough with the data you're trusting them with?
