I have a file in my "C:\ProgramData" (or "C:\Users\All Users") with a strange name "zeipgrdw.rtf" that won't open up with my usual .rtf file reader (Microsoft Office Word), does anyone know what this file is, and if it's a virus or Malware? I want to be sure it's clean and if my system needs it or not before I just delete it? Thanks for any help!
Well, I looked at it with a Hex Editor and saw nothing obvious, scanned it with both MalwareBytes and Avast!, of which they both said it's clean, and according to VirusTotal, which scans with 47 scanners, all of them say it's clean. (results)
That doesn't necessarily meant that it can't be malicious, but chances are it's probably not. Whether or not it's something your computer requires, I don't know, maybe some software installed uses it for configuration or something. You can try renaming it's extension (i.e. from .rtf to .rtf.BAK) and then using your computer for awhile to see if you get any errors or messages about it. If anyone else has any useful info on this file I'd love to hear it as well.
Thanks, I'll try that and let you know if anything useful comes up.

I'll message you an email address you can send the file to, and I'll take a look.
