Remember at Christmas (2009) well Zhu Zhu pets were the hottest thing on the market at Christmas. Well it seams that quite a few are dying and the little wheels are no longer moving.
Ok so if your child is left looking sad with a broken Zhu Zhu pet then there is a possible fix for it.
- Unscrew the battery access screw.
- If the batteries are good, check the two metal contacts on the motor unit.
- If those contacts are not perfectly aligned with the battery tray, the motor wont get power, and won't run.
- Try bending the contacts on the motor unit and battery tray very gently, so that they make good contact.
If that doesn't work they if you have your receipt then you can take it back to the store in most cases. If you can't find your receipt then you can contact the manufacture zhuzhupets.com

If you can hear the motor turning, but the wheels no longer move, it's most likely a broken gear box. I just dis-assembled the gear box in one of ours that broke and found that the smallest of the three gears inside was broken in several pieces. Each of the gears is critical to making the wheels turn.
I've e-mailed the company to see if they will do anything directly (like ship me just a replacement gear box) or maybe a new motor/gearbox assembly. If nothing else, at least they know about this problem.
Teaches parents who camped out for these that you get what you pay for. Do you flush it when its dead?

Thanks for this! I have a couple of special needs kids, and all they wanted for christmas was a new zhu zhu pet. One of them came "broken" talking but not moving. This resolved the issue, and averted a meltdown! Thanks a million!
