... those radical Muslim's are very symbolic in their thinking. Just imagine the message that it would send to them if that mosque was built right on top of Ground Zero ... they attack and destroy the "mighty U.S. Infidels' most 'powerful' symbols, and center of their economy", and replace it with a Muslim place of worship for their God. An insanely enormous symbolic victory in their eyes, and huge motivation to continue destroying U.S. objectives and replacing them with Muslim interests as well. Not a good sign to be sending to them.
so this explains partly why obama is so for it

Well, opposing that is like saying "All Muslims are terrorists", actually the same scare happened 2 years ago in my country cause of the November 26th attacks, people were afraid of Muslims then, even children were afraid of Muslim men. It's not right to oppose it as the opposition violates the Freedom of Speech and would result in a great outcry in the Muslim community. And btw , is there some sort of Freedom monument coming up on Ground Zero?
Actually its not...
The problem isn't the fact that a mosque is being built, its the fact that a mosque is being built in a place where Islamic extremism was the driving force behind a terrorist attack that killed thousands of innocent people. Its in bad taste, simple as that.
Just because someone has a "right" to do something, doesn't make it "right".
Plain and simple: Building this Islamic center was and is absolutely the wrong thing to do. Common sense, please. Do people just not realize when they are sh*tting on each other?
Both Bloomberg and Rauf should have known how the dominoes would have fallen very early on. It's one of those things that I was astounded that it was even being considered, offered as a possibility, and continued past the discussion stage.
First, Mayor Bloomberg.
He had to have been completely out of touch with the people in his city and this country to even initially considered the question when asked about constructing an Islamic center at that location. What a display of horrible judgement. Absurd. When approached, he should have told Rauf, "With all due respect, but are you insane?"
And the Iman.
I do not subscribe to conspiracy theories - I analyze things and call 'em as I see 'em. Rauf now says he is doing this in the name of general peace and tolerance. But by his actions, he has his prioritites with Islam. There could have been no other initial motive behind the unthinking and unsensitive thought process that could come up with this idea of buying the property with the intent on constructing an Islamic temple in the vicinity where Muslims murdered 3000 US citizins in the name of Islam.
Now he's saying that if the center is NOT built, it will cause terrorism from "extremist" Muslims. Is this not crazy? This is all the Imans fault and he needs to fix it instead of suggesting what will happen if he doesn't get his way. He caused this and he needs to ice the projact come up with a solution so that Islamics are not offended. He could if he really wanted to, but does he really want to?
I believe the initial idea of this Islamic center was nothing more than the Iman's attempt bring Islam closer to becoming a mainstream religion in the United States. He was probably oblivious to the trouble it would cause. Of all the people who should have been sensitive to symbolism and how one religion or religious faction can trample on the sensitivies of others it should have been him.
It's plain wrong to build the thing there. Doesn't matter his real motives, or where the funds are coming from or who his associates are. All those things are secondary - it all boils down to this one fact: On Sept 11 2001 a group of terrorists made up entirely of Islamics, carried out a plan which murdered 3000 US citizens and destroyed symbols of the United States' prosperities and freedoms.
Those horrible acts were performed solely by Islamics in the of Islam. They were driven to attack and kill by their religion and it's that simple.
I do not believe in spirits or gods. I believe religion was invented by man to give himself comfort. And throughout history, there have been those that have taken advantage of peoples' religious beliefs to control other people. Look at recorded history - this happened all over Europe. But most all of those religions have evolved or had their rules changed through the years. However, Islam is one religion that has not changed with the times and it's followers are still controlled by the leaders.
Islam is undoubtably the most primitive and barbaric practiced religion in modern times. I have no problem with anyone's religion as long as it doesn't effect me (or us) adversely. However, a religion that allows the murdering, stoning, or the cutting off of a woman's nose simply because of accusations has no place in this world. One that allows for the extermination of non-believers in multitudes is unthinkable. As it stands, Islam should be removed from the planet if not just for its human-rights violations.
Islam's defenders will say that those actions are not practiced by modern members. So why are these actions tolerated by many of those same modern members? Why do they look the other way? Why are the offending teachings I mentioned still included in its written holy passages?
Islam is not simply a religion but it's also a culture, a way of life, AND a set of laws. Realistly, there is no way to change it - there are too many followers and it is ingrained. But its oppressive laws have no place in the United States because Islam's laws directly conflict with our laws. There is no arguing that and this fact is going to have to be faced sooner or later. A tolerant society can only go so far.
This notion should be apparent: As a free nation, Islam is dangerous to our safety and until its writings are changed, the religion should not be disassociated with terrorism. Islam is an integral part of Jihad-based terrorism. It's teachings and resulting beliefs are THE REASON for it. No one can argue that Islam is infact the sole reason for the terrorism that brought on the acts carried out on 9/11/01.
So an Islamic "community center" close to where the towers stood? Hell no. And the Iman needs to fix this now instead of defending it. Nothing good can come from it. There are ways to fix this disaster he helped cause.
Here is a status going around Facebook:
JUST A THOUGHT Regarding the mosque near ground zero, I say let them build it. But across the street, we should put a topless bar called "You Mecca Me Hot". Next to that, a gay bar called "The Turban Cowboy", next to that a pork-rib restaurant called "Iraq O' Ribs", and a check cashing center called "Iran Out of Money". Lets see who's really tolerant! Re-post if you agree! (Donald Trump, MAKE THIS HAPPEN!)
, i'm gonna use it ...
Yeah I posted it and Candyhart posted it so enjoy it. It was to good not to share!
So this was on 'The View". You can see it got heated between Bill O'Reilly, whoopie and Joy Behar

Some U.S. Laws overlap others, and you are only allowed to have one right as long as it generally doesn't negatively affect another person's (or people's) right(s). For example, we have Freedom of Speech, but if you start yelling your own personal opinion at the top of your lungs in public, which also for example, may be spewing racial slangs, you'll most likely be arrested for disorderly conduct, or some other law. In my opinion this is one of them. sure they have the right, BUT it's negatively impacting many more people's rights in the process.
I think in this case certain Muslim's want to exploit U.S. Laws for their own purposes and advantages. I subscribe to the "Howard Stern" school of thought on this topic ... sure, they have the "right" to build one, but it's very insensitive to all of the Americans and their relatives and friends who lost or knew people who died in the terrorist attack. Why not just move it somewhere else? It HAS to be right at Ground Zero? Give me a break ...
And the biggest thing yet ... those radical Muslim's are very symbolic in their thinking.
