So your on a plane be it for business or personal and the pilot misses the airport not a little but alot. Yep that is what happened on a Northwest flight from San Diego to Minnesota. According to the pilots they were in a heated discussion and didn't realize it but they didn't just miss it by a little but by 150 miles. Not only did they miss it but the radio tower tried to reach them for over a hour. The FAA are investigating if they didn't fall asleep.
So does it really matter too much if they were in a heated argument or if they fell asleep either way they were not doing their job and putting their passengers at risk. I guess the black boxes will really show if they were arguing or snoring.
Does stories like this make you more nervous to fly? Would you board a Northwest Airlines flight now? Ever miss a exit while driving down the road? OK give us your airline horror stories....
I think they should be fired and never allowed to work as a pilot again. If I were on that plane and I knew the pilots were asleep, or my loved ones were on it and I heard about it, I'd be outraged. Not to mention people have schedules they need to abide by.
I guess they were lucky, looks like the military were about to get involved yikes!!
looking at this from a consumer point of view its outrageous and they should be fired. no matter what they were doing. and looking at it from an employers perspective they should be fired too! i mean, look at all the gas they wasted. (from what i hear jet fuel is a tad expensive) not to mention the money shelled out to compensate angry passengers.
I guess the black boxes will really show if they were arguing or snoring.
I guess not!
The NTSB may have a hard time confirming what happened, as it's likely the voice recorder captured only the last 30 minutes of the flight — much of that time after pilots had realized their error and turned the plane back around.
MAN! But like y'all said, doesn't matter WHAT they were doing, they should all be kicked in the rear anyway.
yeah they are lucky either way they should be fired.
Both pilots were suspended I guess they were getting their geek on and playing with their laptops. Now I'm all for laptop fun but geeze next time watch the sky. I guess if they were on geekdrop I might understand
Single & Not Looking
No it doesn't matter what they were doing, it really is irrelevant. They should be fired without question, this is one job where a mistake can be fatal. It's unacceptable, period. I don't really have an airline horror story, there was one time a long time ago I was going back to Ireland and was out over the Atlantic, when they announced that we'd be landing in Boston because of some kind of engine failure apparently they never said a word about the problem until we were a half hour outside of Boston, so we got to spend the night in Boston in a really nice hotel, food included and then headed back the next day, so overall it was pretty cool!!!
