I guess its really all a matter of opinion. I would still never want one, even though I've never owned one. *shrugs*
Apple has flatly refused to tell anyone just what chips lie inside the iPhone 3G S. In fact, while Apple insists that the "s" in 3G S stands for speed, it could equally well stand for secrecy. But T-Mobile in the Netherlands apparently didn't get the memo, and has gone ahead and posted the hardware specs on the product page for the new models.
The relevant numbers are 256MB RAM for the OS, double that of the 128MB in the original iPhone, and a 600MHz processor, up from the pedestrian 412MHz of the first two models. The added RAM alone probably makes a huge difference — if you have ever added memory to a Mac you'll know how much OS X loves it some extra gigs to play around in. And that processor neatly leapfrogs the second-gen iPod Touch's 532MHz. It also shuts up anyone comparing the iPhone to the Palm Pre, which has the exact same number of megahertz: 600.
Of course, this never really mattered — as soon as the iPhone goes on sale it will be torn apart like a gazelle being set upon my hunger-crazed lions and the innards cast across the floor for all to see. We wonder just how long the T-Mobile site will keep this information up.

Way to go T-mobile!

Well we know its not for security: Close, But No Cigar
oops my bad I said that outloud
Oh I'm sure as soon as that phone hits the market it will be torn apart and really tested.
Im back... My god I feel like I have been gone for so long.. Having problems with your wireless at home is no bueno for this geek... Soooo on to the iPhone.. I love my iPhone and excited for the new update but I was a little disappointed that it wont include the video... That was the one HUGE thing I thought it was missing.. Every other freakin phone out there has it and Apple didnt put it on the iPhone, whats up with that... I just got the 3G about 5 months ago so do I seriously have to wait for my contract to be up to get a better price on the new phone?? How sad....
Ok James I read that AT&T are cutting some breaks for users that can't upgrade yet. Hummmm could it be that sales were disapointing?
So I hope that helps you out and your one of the "some users"
ya know I'm so glad that blackberry just does upgrades the easy way. I can either plug my phone into my pc and upgrade it or I can download it - easy breezy and FREE
the upgrade JC and i couldn't get is the actual phone. like with all providers you can only upgrade your actual phone every several months. it's like once a year i think..something like that. so if you got an iPhone 3G 6 months ago (around the time frame that both JC and i got one) you are no longer eligible for a new phone until next year. but the software update is free. just plug into computer, download and done! and the software update was awesome.
but, this is actually GREAT news for those people that are now eligible to purchase the new phone at a discounted price. thanks for the heads-up!
In a land of wonderous things...
i like new toys to play with *lol* i don't know. i also still love mine and yeah the upgrade will be awesome within itself. but, i'm very much considering the new one. i'm kinda loving the longer battery life thing...
yeah i mean, like i said, you can't really compare phones if you've never owned one of them. i made the transition from Blackberry to iPhone quite happily. i liked the Blackberry. i LOVE the iPhone.
