If you have a monitor that's 19" or larger, than you can use Split Browser. It's an add-on from Firefox that allows you spilt your browser into two screens.
It would look something like this:
SM, i've been thinking about doing that because i'm constantly flipping back and forth between tabs and windows end up with multiple rows of things going on(at the bottom of desktop) and it just gets messy--how do you hook up another monitor though when there aren't enough ports for it?

Well I have a video card in my pc so I have extra ports for more monitors on the back of my tower. There are a few ways you can do dual if you dont have extra ports. You can get a USB monitor but the downside is they can be soooooooo expensive. You can also get a nifty little divice that will plug in via USB to allow you to have an additional monitor and those are reasonable. Here are two examples ONE and TWO. The second one the "Diamond" brand I think is better, they also make video cards. Now mind you plugging in a monitor that way I wouldn't recommend using it for gaming or for movies but for surfing the web and doing office things its fine.
Dual monitors is awesome. I had it set up when my partner was out of town. Yeah, it is really hard going back to one screen.
Sweet! But what do i need if it's an xpi file? an un-zipper?

An xpi is basically just the file extension Mozilla uses for the Firefox, ThunderBird, etc. extensions. You just open the Add-Ons window and drag n drop the xpi onto it, and it'll take over. Or if you have that add-on window open, there's an "Install ..." button at the bottom, You can just click that and then navigate to and select the xpi.
btw, just a techy bit of info, an xpi really is just a zip file. You can open it using something like Winrar or Winzip to see each individual file, but unless you're a coder and want to alter some of the stuff in it, there's really no need to.
I showed this to my neighbor yesterday (since she loves my dual screens) and she thought it was really cool. She has a 24" wide and it wasn't to bad.

carefull you'll get get spoiled and end up wanting to go dual monitors (or more). Here is a screen shot of my monitors (when I take screen shots I get both in them). You just have to imagine that both screens are 22" wides so I'm just short of 4 feet of monitors going across.
Great find Phoenix on this
