Well you had to know this one was coming down the pipes but now you need to watch what videos you embed. Yep those nasty little copy-written items. Oh yeah have some friends get together get a little tipsy and dance to some fun song well you might have to pay royalties if your not careful. Now if your just putting it on your personal blog, and its non commercial fine but if not then you might get a letter of warning.
You can read more about it here:
Fresh off a court victory against Google's YouTube, ASCAP tells us it is setting its sights on users of the video-sharing site. Welcome to the exciting world of copyright licensing, blogger; you may already owe gobs of money!
ASCAP licenses the performance rights for music, collecting royalties for its songwriter members when their songs are played in certain contexts.
So what do you think is the music industry starting to go to far? I mean if we start to whistle a song will they start charging us for that? When does it end?
Oh I agree the artist are not making a dime off of it only the music producers are. I guess they fail to understand that if the music is out there and ppl are hearing it that they might just be inclined to go out and buy the CD or DVD. All they are doing is pissing more ppl off and turning them off of it.
Somewhere between fantasy and reality...
