I had this happen to me once in Firefox. Eventually I had to just copy my message and log in to Gmail with crappy old internet exploder, paste my message into a new one and send it with that. It wasn't pretty but at least I got my message off. Firefox somehow fixed itself after that and hasn't happened again. Iwould STILL like to know exctly what was causing it though!
