Any major reformatting or partition changes I make are done with GParted. It's a live disc that you boot from. It's based on Linux and it is free.
I didn't find it intimidating or hard to use the first time I used it. Now I wouldn't want to live without it. Especially since I'm going to reinstall Win 7
and upgrade to Mint 8 sometime in the near future. I'm going to change my partition sizes when I do.
