There's another scam going around on Facebook, this time it's a Facebook scam promising to give away a $100 ("wow!") Starbucks card for free. Amazing huh? They just want to give away tons of money!
Well, as usual, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Take a look...
It's a method of sending so much data to one computer / IP Address, usually, but not always, a simple "ping", that it essentially gets flooded, can't handle it, and either gets completely knocked offline, or becomes so slow that for all practical purposes that computer, or even website, becomes unusable.
Ever hear of a DOS program? I know someone who is having one used against her system at home and she doesn't know how to stop it.
She's saying some kid got a hold of her home ip address and is using a DOS (denial of service) program to bombard her router or modem or whatever so she cant get service. Everything is bogged down.
I recently had a run in with the Windows 7 Internet Security 2012 Malware and now I have a red x in my status bar tray, clicking it shows the Action Center saying "The Windows Security Center Service can't be started". After Googling for hours all that I was able to find about this was to press Windows Key + R, type in "services.msc", look for "Security Center" in the list, and set it's Startup Type to "Automatic (Delayed)".
This release represents our most significant update in 2 years and we want to thank everyone who helped test along the way.

A new worm is flooding Twitter accounts, enticing people to read information about acai berries or "acainews". The tweet typically starts off with the person claiming weight loss after drinking acai berry extracts and shows links to "acainews". The Acai Berry worm spreads like wild fire as it sends out thousands of tweets per minute. What’s more is that it has hijacked a large number of twitter accounts turning them into spammers. This attack has been the fastest-spreading in Twitter’s security history.
There's a new FaceBook virus going around .... It's actually a "Phish", which means you are baited into going to a false page that looks just like the FaceBook login page, where unsuspecting people may think they've somehow been logged out of FaceBook and re-enter their login and password. Once they do, the "phishermen" log and save your login information, and use your profile however they want.
