Our friend Mike, at SuperAntiSpyware helped describe cookies the best. Here's what he said:

Are cookies really spyware and are they dangerous?
This subject has been the debate of many newsgroups and online forums. Cookies are simply text files stored on your hard drive and cannot themselves harm your computer in any way. Typically cookies are used to remember logins and keep track of user settings on web-sites.

Think of them like leaving footprints on a beach...

You have to be real careful these days on the internet, for scammers trying to bilk you out of your hard earned penny.

I've been well woven into the depths of the internet, and all of it's seedy corners, for over 15 years now and have never fallen for a single scam. That's not bragging, there's just a few basic tricks to being able to (generally) spot someone trying to scam you.

What is WSQMCONS.EXE? Do I Need It?

My firewall popped up a bit ago asking if I wanted to allow WSQMCONS.EXE to connect to the internet but I don't know what it is. I don't want to let it connect in case it's a virus or some kind of Malware, so I blocked it. Does anyone know what WSQMCONS.EXE is?

CMDAGENT.EXE - What is is?

I keep seeing cmdagent.exe running in my processes list on Windows 7 and when it does it seems to hang things from happening on my computer. Like, if a program tries to connect to the internet I would usually get a popup from my firewall program notifying me of the program that's trying to connect to the internet and asking me if I want to allow it or block it, but when cmdagent.exe is running I don't get that anymore until I kill it's process. Does anyone know what this program is, and if it's a virus or Malware??

What Does DDoS Mean? How Can I Protect Myself?

"DDoS" stands for "Distributed Denial of Service.

It's a method of sending so much data to one computer / IP Address, usually, but not always, a simple "ping", that it essentially gets flooded, can't handle it, and either gets completely knocked offline, or becomes so slow that for all practical purposes that computer, or even website, becomes unusable.

Getting DDoS'd! How do I stop it?

Ever hear of a DOS program? I know someone who is having one used against her system at home and she doesn't know how to stop it.
She's saying some kid got a hold of her home ip address and is using a DOS (denial of service) program to bombard her router or modem or whatever so she cant get service. Everything is bogged down.

Windows Security Center Service is missing and won't start! - [SOLVED]

I recently had a run in with the Windows 7 Internet Security 2012 Malware and now I have a red x in my status bar tray, clicking it shows the Action Center saying "The Windows Security Center Service can't be started". After Googling for hours all that I was able to find about this was to press Windows Key + R, type in "services.msc", look for "Security Center" in the list, and set it's Startup Type to "Automatic (Delayed)".
